Another year is almost finished. And I’m sure we are all ready to say goodbye to 2020. However, before we do, now is the time to get your home ready for the holiday season. Let’s end the next 2 months on a high note! I don’t know about you, but getting my home decorated with sparkle twinkly lights, cozy blankets and pillows brings a special type of joy. But we all know it can be stressful and overwhelming too! But if we take a little bit of time to get our home ready for the holidays, it won’t seem as rushed with the proper plan in place. Below are a few tips to help you in your goal of getting ready for the holidays!
An Easy To Do List for Your Home
Lights, lights, and more lights!
The very first thing I think about when it comes to decorating my home for the holiday season is putting all the lights up! No, they are not just for the outside, but for several rooms. In fact, these can include the family room, kitchen, and even bedrooms. I think they add such a cozy feel to each room! The more lights the merrier! And this is why they are the first items I love to add and keep up all season long.
Clean the Floors
No judgment over here! But when was the last time you really took the time to clean and mop your floors instead of just putting the dirt under the rug? You can certainly tackle this yourself, but it might be time to enlist the help of a professional too. Depending on what type of flooring you have. such as carpet, hardwood, tile or vinyl, you’ll want to use special tools to do so or hire an expert.
Cleaning the floors is just the start. Doing a deep clean of the most used parts of your home is a great step in getting ready for the holidays. Once those holidays get rolling, cleaning will be something you’ll always be struggling to keep up with on a daily basis.
Purge The Clutter
Take a few hours to go through every room in your home. Purge any items that have just been gathering clutter. Walk through your home. Anything you’ve been wanting to get rid of goes in a bag or box. And don’t forget those endless stacks of papers! This will help make your whole holiday season go a bit more smoothly. And this is especially true if you do it now instead of at the last minute. If your kids are old enough, have them go through their own rooms as well. They can grab items that they either want to get rid of or donate to those less fortunate. You can make this a yearly tradition as well to bring it to a shelter or church. Give back while creating space in your home.
There is no set time to decorate your home for the holidays. But doing it early does give you more of an idea of what you are wanting to do as far as a color scheme or theme for the holidays. This also gives you the gift of time! And this is the one thing we never have enough of. Let yourself take one room at a time, open the totes, and give it a day or two to see if you like what you set up. If you do, move on to another room until your home feels complete. Don’t go crazy and order an entire new set the day before Christmas or a big gathering. You want to enjoy your hard work, decorations, and time with your family.
What If You’re Moving?
If getting your home ready to be showcased to neighbors and strangers, what better time to show your home off to its new owner’s then during the holiday season? One of the biggest ways to connect with potential buyers isn’t with pictures. Instead, it’s by sharing a personal story and connection with them. Sharing a story is what helps them share your home than with others. And while it’s essential to tell that in a photograph, a video can do just that even better.
Peter Guzzo, an award-winning Executive Producer, Creative, and Director has proven that his work with his business called Kestum Bilt, is worth looking into. They are a full-service video production agency in the Tampa area with a team of business managers, writers, directors, and producers. They include post-production, professional video editing, and creative consulting to help you put your home on the market the right way. With certain lighting, angles, and show-stopping footage, this will hopefully sell your home as quickly as possible.
Getting Ready for the Holidays is Easy!
This holiday season might look a little different than those in the past. But you can still enjoy the holidays and celebrate the tradition of decorating your home. And while we are getting ready for the holidays, don’t forget to take care of yourself too. If lighting candles puts in your holiday mood, then go for it! If you need to bake some cookies at midnight, no one’s stopping you! You made it through 2020. That’s something to celebrate. Getting ready for the holidays doesn’t have to be stressful. What’s your favorite way to celebrate the season?
