Blaire Wilson, the 2019 Girl of the Year, is a young chef-in-training who loves to put her cooking and decorating talents to good use on her family’s sustainable farm and bed-and-breakfast in upstate New York. In her story, Blaire excels at gathering people around the dinner table but needs help finding balance between the digital world and the real world.

The 18-inch Blaire doll has bright green eyes and curly red hair. Blaire arrives in a sundress with a bumblebee print and gathered tied, a sunny yellow bandana bracelet, a hair comb with pink flowers, and purple platform sandals. Also included is the Blaire paperback book by Jennifer Castle.

The Blaire collection is available through American Girl’s catalogue; at; at all American Girl retail locations nationwide; at American Girl specialty boutiques at select Indigoand Chapters in Canada and online at The Blaire books can also be purchased through retail and online booksellers.

And another wonderful aspect of American Girl Dolls is that they also encourage a love of reading! When my girls fall in love with the doll, they also fall in love with reading books about their dolls. What a gift to a parent! Check out this author biography of Jennifer Castle.

Jennifer Castle, author of the 2019 Girl of the Year series, Blaire and Blaire Cooks Up a Plan, grew up writing stories in her head on long school bus rides and was constantly looking for ways to turn her idea-sparks into reality. These included dozens of poems, a homemade magazine that lasted three issues, a barrette-making business, and a cruise boat made of branches and cardboard for the creek behind her house. Eventually, one of her “big ideas” became a published novel, and since then she has written more than ten books for kids and teens, including the Butterfly Wishes series, Together at Midnight, and Famous Friends.

Jennifer lives among the mountains, woods, and bountiful farms of New York’s Hudson Valley with her husband, two daughters, and two striped cats, who also work part-time as her writing assistants.
