How to get ALL the candy!

There are 14 trick or treating locations throughout the Magic Kingdom during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! You read that right; 14! And at each station, you get HANDFULS of candy! This isn’t just one piece or so, you get as much as a Cast Member can fit in their hands. During our time at the Halloween party, we went to about 10 of the trick or treat stations, and got enough candy to last us until next Halloween!

A pro tip is to bring a backpack to dump candy into as the bags you carry get too full. This is really important if you have any little ones with you. They won’t be able to carry those bags full of goodies for too long! Also, don’t forget that there are special allergy friendly treats for those that need it. Ask any cast member for directions for the allergy friendly treats.

There are even some trick or treat stations that are located inside of rides. For example, you walk through a closed Country Bear Jamboree in order to pick up some candy. You also get to walk through the Diamond Horseshoe restaurant for one of the prettiest trick or treating stations. It’s always fun to go in certain areas of the Magic Kingdom in a different way, especially if you’re getting some candy too!

Enjoy bewitching surprises on special attractions.

During Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, you can enjoy a few attractions that feature some bewitching surprises! At Space Mountain, similarly to the Villains After Hours event, the ride is in complete darkness with a spooky soundtrack. At the Mad Tea Party, there’s Halloween themed lighting and music as well. They were both so fun!

At Monster’s, Inc. Laugh Floor, the usual comedy show turns into a more casual comedy club. This is also a trick or treating station, so many people just keep walking right through this attraction. But this is a mistake! You need to take a seat and take in some of the impromptu jokes! Watching these monsters perform on cue and perform all new material is really amazing. And it’s a great place to rest and enjoy some of that candy!

Disney Halloween

At Pirates of the Caribbean, some of the pirates come to life! There are pirates to interact with in the line at a few different points. One even made me jump out of my skin because I was so surprised! My little elf even made a deal with a pirate to split some treasure with him. During the ride, there are two live pirates and it really adds some excitement to the whole experience. You don’t want to miss this Not So Scary attraction!

Do NOT miss the all new Not So Spooky Spectacular fireworks!

To be honest, I sometimes wonder if it’s worth fighting the crowds to get a prime spot for fireworks viewing. Let me answer that one for you for this particularly show- YES! This was one of the most impressive fireworks displays I’ve seen at Disney, and I’ve seen them all!

Disney Halloween

The projections and displays were absolutely amazing. The Not So Spooky Spectacular fireworks were the perfect blend of spooky and fun. Mickey and friends make an appearance, as well as classic villains like Ursula. You really can’t miss this fireworks spectacular!

Boo to You Parade is a spooky classic.

This parade is so popular, you might want to make this the first part of your plan for the night. Thankfully, there are two shows per night. There are a lot of recommendations for going to the first show, but in my opinion, they are about the same crowd level. It’s really amazing, and really unique. The headless horseman cannot be missed! I’ve always watched this parade from Frontierland, and I highly recommend this view area!

Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular

Hocus Pocus is one of my all-time favorite Halloween movies. So to have the best part of the movie come alive right in front of my eyes, in the middle of Magic Kingdom is just unreal. Allllll of the nostalgia comes alive and allll the feels. I just love pretending, for only a moment, that I am part of the party scene during Hocus Pocus. When the Sanderson Sisters say they put a spell on me, I nearly believe it!

A tip for those with small children- do NOT try to crowd as close to the stage as possible. Little ones will not be able to see over adults. If you stand back a little, near the middle, or even behind that, you’ll have a much better view of the whole stage!

Rare and Favorite Not So Scary Disney Characters

For many people, one of the absolute highlights of the Not So Scary Disney Halloween party is rare and unique characters. When else can you see all Seven Dwarfs togther? Or what about Jack and Sally? I absolutely adore Winnie the Pooh and friends in their Halloween costumes! And Lotso from Toy Story makes an appearance too, among many others. If checking off characters is a must-do on your Disney bucket list, make sure to head to Not So Scary!

Disney Halloween Party

An important tip to keep in mind is that the lines for characters will close prior to the actual end of the party. We tried to get in line for Winnie the Pooh and friends at about 11:40 pm, and the line was already closed. So head to your must-do characters early in the night!

Dance the Not So Scary Night Away!

There are several options for dance parties at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. If you have little ones, you might want to head over to the Storybook Circus Disney Junior Jam. You can dance the night away with Vampirina and other not so scary friends!

New this year, there’s also the Disney Descendance Party in Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. If your kids are into The Descendants, you cannot miss this fun party! There’s even shout outs to awesome villain kids!

Disney Halloween Party

Our favorite dance party is the Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Mal at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland. You can join Mike Wazowski and Sulley for conga lines, special candy giveaways, and more! It’s a really fun party to visit, and we love to start our night there to kick off the party.

So is it worth it?

If you haven’t guessed my answer yet, it’s a definite yes for our family! Of course, you know your kids best, and you know if they can handle that late night. Not all of my kids are really into late nights, so it was nice to spend some time with a smaller group of kiddos for the evening. I have all kinds of tips for large families at Disney World. But large families know best about how it’s nice to break things up into smaller groups at times!
