What is H20 Glow Nights After Hours at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon?

Walt Disney World is our home away from home. But it took us YEARS to discover the Disney water parks. I don’t know what we were waiting for! I had never grown up going to water parks in general. They are so clean, have Disney level customer service and cast members, and excellent safety. Plus, there are attractions and water slides for every excitement level!

All about Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon is one of two water parks at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. It opened on June 1, 1989, and is known for its tropical theme and lush, immersive environment. Here’s an in-depth look at what makes Typhoon Lagoon a popular destination:

1. Theme and Storyline

Typhoon Lagoon is themed around the aftermath of a fictional typhoon that wreaked havoc on a tropical paradise. The storyline is that a typhoon, an earthquake, and a volcanic eruption combined forces to create an exotic water playground. The park’s centerpiece is Mount Mayday, a massive mountain with a shrimp boat, the “Miss Tilly,” precariously perched at its summit.

2. Major Attractions

  • Surf Pool: This is one of the world’s largest wave pools, generating six-foot-high waves that you can body surf or float over. The pool alternates between large waves and a gentle bobbing effect.
  • Crush ‘n’ Gusher: A water coaster that features a series of thrilling drops and turns. Riders can choose from three different slides: Banana Blaster, Coconut Crusher, and Pineapple Plunger.
  • Miss Adventure Falls: A family-friendly raft ride that takes guests on a journey through Captain Mary Oceaneer’s treasure-strewn hideout.
  • Humunga Kowabunga: Three enclosed speed slides that plunge riders down a steep drop for a high-speed, exhilarating ride.
  • Storm Slides: A trio of body slides (Jib Jammer, Stern Burner, and Rudder Buster) that twist and turn down Mount Mayday.
  • Gang Plank Falls: A family raft ride that takes you on a fun, bumpy journey down the mountain.
  • Keelhaul Falls and Mayday Falls: Inner tube slides with different intensity levels, offering fun for various ages and thrill preferences.

3. Lazy River

  • Castaway Creek: A 2,000-foot-long lazy river that circles the park. Guests can float on inner tubes through lush landscapes, caves, and waterfalls, passing through all the different themed areas of the park.

  • Typhoon Tilly’s: Known for seafood options like fish baskets and shrimp.
  • Snack Shacks: There are several snack locations throughout the park offering ice cream, churros, popcorn, and more.
  • Let’s Go Slurpin’: A bar serving up tropical cocktails, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages.

6. Amenities

  • Beachcomber Shacks: Private cabanas available for rent, providing a shaded area with lounge chairs, towels, a locker, and cold beverages.
  • Surf Lessons: Guests can book surf lessons in the Surf Pool before the park opens to the public.
